Kp Index Explained

The Kp index measures geomagnetic activity on a scale from 0 to 9. A higher Kp index indicates stronger solar activity and increased chances of aurora visibility. Values of Kp 5 or above indicate a geomagnetic storm, while Kp 6 to 9 can produce northern lights visible much further from the poles.
