Temperature — Frequently Asked Questions
Why does "feels like" differ from the actual temperature?

Feels-like temperature adjusts the air temperature for wind chill in cold, windy conditions and for humidity in hot, muggy conditions — both change how quickly your body loses or retains heat, so the perceived temperature can be several degrees away from the thermometer reading.

Why might my phone show a different temperature?

Most phones don't have a dedicated air-temperature sensor; they display a forecast pulled from the nearest weather station, which can be many kilometres away. This page uses model data resolved to your exact coordinates, which is usually closer to true local conditions, though never a substitute for a properly sited thermometer.

What causes the daily high and low?

The low typically occurs just before sunrise, once the ground has radiated away the most heat overnight. The high usually comes a couple of hours after solar noon, once the ground has had time to absorb and re-radiate the day's peak sunlight.

How far ahead is the forecast reliable?

The next 24 hours shown above are generally accurate to within a degree or two. Accuracy declines the further out a forecast reaches — by day 5–7 even good models are best treated as a general trend rather than an exact figure.

Current Temperature Near Me and Worldwide

This page shows the live air temperature for your location or any city worldwide, alongside the feels-like temperature, humidity, wind speed, and today's high and low — plus a 24-hour history chart, a 24-hour forecast, and a live regional temperature map.

Temperature vs. Feels Like

The air temperature is a direct physical measurement. Feels-like temperature (sometimes called apparent temperature) adjusts that reading for wind and humidity to estimate what a typical person actually experiences outdoors — colder in a strong wind, hotter in high humidity, even at the exact same thermometer reading.

Reading the Trend Chart and Forecast

The chart plots the last 24 hours of temperature so you can see the overnight low, the daytime rise, and today's peak in context, rather than a single isolated number. The forecast strip extends that same model forward to +24 hours, useful for planning an outdoor activity later in the day.

Celsius and Fahrenheit

This page displays temperature in Celsius, the scale used for weather reporting in most of the world. For a live Celsius/Fahrenheit converter alongside body-temperature reference points, visit the live thermometer page.

Why Local Readings Can Differ From Official Ones

Official weather stations are sited over grass, shielded from direct sun, at a standard height — conditions a phone, car dashboard, or wall-mounted thermometer rarely match. A reading taken in direct sun or near a building will typically run several degrees warmer than the true air temperature reported here.
